IBIVU , The Centre for Integrative BioInformatics VU
The IBIVU is The Netherlands’
Centre for Integrative Bioinformatics.
It is situated at the Free
University (Vrije Universiteit) in Amsterdam, NL, EU.
·
It aims at understanding how the various
organizational levels of living systems together constitute, life, function,
and dysfunction (disease).
·
It aims at achieving this understanding by
integrating massive amounts of experimental data from these various levels.
·
It is effective in doing this by integrating
various scientific disciplines (such as medicine, population biology,
mathematics, statistics, biochemistry, biophysics, neurobiology, computation
sciences, and informatics)
The IBIVU is one of the
synergies between the Faculty (School) of Science (FEW) and the Faculty
of Earth and Life Sciences (FALW) of the Free University Amsterdam (Vrije
Universiteit Amsterdam)
Coordination:
At present the Centre’s
activities are coordinated by Jaap Heringa (Chair of
Bioinformatics), who is assisted by Hans
V. Westerhoff.
