The university is located to the south of the city at about fifteen minutes distance from the centre by public transport.

Arriving from Schiphol Airport

• By public transport: from the train station of Schiphol airport, take any train stopping at WTC/Zuid (about 7 minutes from the airport, train fare of 2,20 euro). Once in WTC/Zuid station, take tram number 5 in direction Amstelveen and get off at De Boelelaan/VU (the next stop).
• By taxi: a taxi ride from Schiphol to the Vrije Universiteit can cost between 35 and 40 euros.

Arriving from Central (train) Station

• By TRAM: from the tram station in front of central stations, take tram number 5 and get off at De Boelelaan/VU;
• By METRO: from the metro station situated under central station (entrance to the metro is right in front of the entrance to the station), take number 51 and get off at De Boelelaan/VU.

Tickets for all forms of public transport in Amsterdam are available at all train stations, post offices and supermarkets in the form of 'strippen', i.e. tickets valid for multiple rides and that have to get stamped in apposite machines at the start the ride. The cost of one ride is of approximately 2 euros.
